There was no doubting the serious Footy Fans in our UKE Club on Footy Songs night!

The night was opened by Tatyana leading us in with the quintessential Aussie Footy Song "Up There Cazaly".

Dressed in their team colours the die hard followers of AFL sang their team songs with special enthusiasm and dare I say competitive spirit. We were led off by Veronica, an ardent Adelaide supporter, who was peeved her team song wasn't in the original list. But not deterred she provided not only the Crows song but the US Marines Hymn it was based on.

We then all sang along with Tatyana leading the 12 original VFL club theme songs as well as the songs they were sourced from.  Chris had done an amazing job researching the team songs and not only provided their history but the old-time songs they were all derived from. Few if any of us were aware that St Kilda had two theme songs!

Alas the footy part of the night was over all too quickly - but we were all well and truly into the fever of the footy finals - even the not so enthusiastic football followers got into the spirit of the theme night and sang and played their ukes so that our hall was filled with the joy the occasion called for.

For those who missed the evening the songs are all in the back section of LUKES Main Songbook 3, along with their history and source song.
