Presented by the Blues Sisters

Tuesday 13th August 2019

Jill Thompson and her Blues Sisters presented a wonderful evening of workshops and well known songs from the Blues genre as well as songs featuring Blue in their title. The variations on "The Blues Brothers (& Sisters) outfits, as always were fascinating - with lots of black suits, black fedoras, white shirts and black ties, finished off in true style with black sunglasses.

It could be said that no one was in a blue mood - there was definitely joy aplenty in the room!

Fran led the evening off with a workshop of 12-Bar Blues strumming in the key of A or C and she was followed by a Solo demonstration by Veronica with an easy riff or lead in to Tennessee Whiskey.

Members sang and played along to classics by of course The Blues Brothers (Minnie the Moocher), Elvis,  Creedence Clearwater Revival, Roy Orbison, The Supremes, Fats Domino, Daddy Cool, Otis Redding, Johnny Cash,  Ray Charles, Canned Heat, the Rolling Stones and Janis Joplin, to name but a few.

Thank you to Jill and her gals for their hard work in pulling together another fabulous night at LUKES.
