    Description: NUMERICALS

On Thursday 5th August, at 3:30pm, we will be doing our Numericals Song List.

We will be using Books 1, 2, and 3 and the Ukulele Club Songbooks for our songs pertaining to all things numerical along with a few handouts. So, look through the list and work out your Numero Uno, Due or Tres and nominate the songs you would be happy to lead and email Alison at alison@daviesdirect.net

As we find ourselves coming out of Lockdown Number 5, we are understanding that numbers play an incredibly important role in controlling the direction of our everyday lives and in fact the freedoms that we are permitted to live with.

We eagerly wait each morning to hear the number of new COVID cases in our city, state and the rest of the country. We wait to learn what number in our community have been immunised so that we know if we are close to reaching herd immunity.

We have only been ablt to exercise as a pair and couldn't venture further than 5 kilometres from our homes.

We look up our weather apps to find out the temperature, rainfall and wind measurements and whether these figures predict suitability to exercise.

We are told we should walk a minimum of 10,000 steps each day to maintain our fitness.

We count calories or kilojoules to try to allay the COVID kilos from landing on our hips or bellies (alas with little success?!)

The number of beats in a bar and the pauses and the type and number of strums create the fabric of each song and differentiate one song or musical piece from another.

You may think your favourite songs are all about the words but numbers play a major role when it comes to music. From summing up all the ways you can leave your lover, to remembering the year that gave you the best summer of your life, those songs with a number in the title are all classics for a reason…..

So, let’s get stuck in to our Numericals’ Song List and create and what’s more enjoy - some really positive numbers!!!!

We have a limit of 30 people at the Mentone RSL and we need to let the RSL know how many people are staying on for dinner. So put your availability down ASAP  and email Alison if you'd like to stay for dinner or lead a song.
